Baseball Game Preview: Riverside Generals vs. Ribault Trojans

The Riverside Generals will take on the Ribault Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverside will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Riverside turned things around against Englewood on Thursday. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 15-11. With that win, the Generals brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Theodore Whittle was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Covington, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Ribault fell victim to First Coast and their airtight pitching crew last Monday. They lost 12-0 to the Buccaneers. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Buccaneers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Ribault, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ribault struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Riverside might still be hurting after the 14-7 loss they got from Ribault in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
