Warsaw and Carroll are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Warsaw Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Carroll Chargers at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Warsaw is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Carroll in Indiana (Warsaw is ranked 26th, while Carroll is ranked 196th).
After a string of five wins, Warsaw's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 60-51 to Westfield.
Despite their defeat, Warsaw saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Joslyn Bricker, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. Bricker scored a full 29.4% of Warsaw's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Alexis Neely was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
Meanwhile, Carroll struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Northridge had 1200% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Carroll took a 66-47 bruising from Northridge. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carroll in their matchups with Northridge: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their defeat, Carroll saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lily George, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, was perhaps the best of all. The game was George's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jersey Paul, who scored 15 points.
Their wins bumped Warsaw to 6-3 and Westfield to 6-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's contest: Warsaw have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 9.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Carroll, though, as they've been averaging only 6.4 per game. Given Warsaw's sizeable advantage in that area, Carroll will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Warsaw strolled past Carroll in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 80-65. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Carroll's Taylor Fordyce, who scored 23 points along with 3 steals. Now that she won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Warsaw to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
