Softball Recap: Warhill Wins Going Away Against Bruton

Warhill won the last time they faced Bruton and things went their way on Friday too. The Lions blew past the Panthers 19-4. Considering the Lions have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella White and Kaci Wagner were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, White struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Wagner pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. White has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, White went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Wagner went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that Wagner has launched this season.

In other batting news, Keamani Fujimoto was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Hall, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Warhill lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Warhill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bruton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warhill will challenge Woodside at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Bruton, they will square off against Smithfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
