Edwardsville faced O'Fallon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Edwardsville has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for O'Fallon, their loss dropped their record down to 21-10.

Coming up, Edwardsville will take on Triad at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for O'Fallon, they will be playing at home against Mattoon at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
