Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Eagles vs. Rocky Mountain Lobos

The Heritage Eagles will take on the Rocky Mountain Lobos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Rocky Mountain likes a good challenge.

Heritage is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 86-70 win over Douglas County on Saturday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trystan Rangel, who went 10-for-20 on his way to 28 points. Rangel's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Chaney, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain hadn't done well against Fossil Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Rocky Mountain snuck past Fossil Ridge with a 60-55 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lobos' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the SaberCats are ranked 31st).

Rocky Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. Heritage's win bumped their record up to 11-12.
