The Fountain Hills Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the Red Rock Scorpions at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Fountain Hills took on Phoenix Country Day on Saturday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
JJ Pena looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jevonte McQuirter was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Fountain Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Red Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, falling 18-6. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Alexis Parra Landaverde was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Nicholas McAtee was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Red Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12-1. As for Fountain Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1.
Red Rock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fountain Hills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for Red Rock, though, as they've only averaged .212. Will they be able to contain Fountain Hills' hitters?
Everything went Fountain Hills' way against Red Rock in their previous meeting back in March, as Fountain Hills made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
