Willis is 0-7 against the War Eagles since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Willis Wildkats will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Ridge War Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Willis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1190th, while the War Eagles are ranked 363rd).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-28, which was the final score in Willis' tilt against the Highlanders on Friday. Willis has not had much luck with the Highlanders recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Oak Ridge can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They put the hurt on Caney Creek with a sharp 55-29 win. The victory was nothing new for Oak Ridge as they're now sitting on three straight.
Willis dropped their record down to 5-25 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Oak Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 20-11 record this season.
Willis took a serious blow against the War Eagles when the teams last played back in January, falling 74-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Oak Ridge's Chioma (treasure) Emeh, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
