Kelsey Stacy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Bowling, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Summer Jordan, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Williamsburg put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. Everything went their way against Whiteoak as Williamsburg made off with a 9-3 win. That's two games straight that Williamsburg has won by exactly six runs.
Alyssa Vearil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Delaney Donohoo was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Kaityln Pollitt was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Williamsburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whiteoak struck out ten times.
Williamsburg's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Cincinnati Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cincinnati Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .523. However, it's not like Williamsburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cincinnati Christian suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Williamsburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can Cincinnati Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
