After a string of four wins, the East Lyme Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 73-47 defeat at the hands of St. Bernard. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Lyme in their matchups with St. Bernard: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brendan Osso, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Hibbard, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
East Lyme bumped their record down to 4-2 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. Bernard, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lyme will challenge Stonington at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Stonington is ranked 53rd, while East Lyme is ranked 48th). As for St. Bernard, they will head out on the road to face off against New London at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New London has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 214 points over their last three matches.
