The Choctaw Central Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Leake Central Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Choctaw Central's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Leake Central has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
Last Friday, Choctaw Central rang in the new year with a 67-54 victory over Newton County. Given Choctaw Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Newton County is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Leake Central pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 87-69 to Northeast Lauderdale. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (57), Leake Central still had to take the loss.
Choctaw Central is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. As for Leake Central, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
