La Jolla extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-4. They lost 21-4 to the Bishop's Knights. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Ellie Thomson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Bishop's, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.
On Bishop's side, Sydney Mafong and Jessica Yao were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Mafong tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Yao pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. At bat, Mafong went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Yao went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those five hits gave Yao a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bella Bravo was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025. Bailey Brightenburg was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, La Jolla will take on San Ysidro in a tournament on Thursday. As for Bishop's, they will square off against Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
