Volleyball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Unity Christian's Winning Streak

After a string of five wins, Unity Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones by a score of 2-1. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cyclones 25-19 in the first set.

Unity Christian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-17, 25-20.

Mallory Harrison paced Unity Christian's offense, picking up ten kills. Harrison got some help from Sadie Reiterman and her 14 assists. Harrison was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Unity Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 24-7. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-13.

Coming up, Unity Christian will challenge Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, they will face off against Decatur Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
