Basketball Recap: St. Lawrence Central Piles Up the Points Against Salmon River

St. Lawrence Central had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 49-point drubbing they dealt Salmon River on Saturday. The St. Lawrence Central Larries took their game with ease, bagging a 65-16 win over the Salmon River Shamrocks. The Larries have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 49 points or more this season.

Leading St. Lawrence Central to victory were Ayden Beach and Damien Ashley. Beach dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten assists, while Ashley went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. Beach's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carl Moore, who posted seven points and three steals.

St. Lawrence Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

St. Lawrence Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Salmon River, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Lawrence Central will venture away from home to square off against South Lewis at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Salmon River, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Colton-Pierrepont at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
