Duncan and Baboquivari are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Duncan Wildkats will be playing at home against the Baboquivari Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Duncan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Duncan earned a 9-5 victory over Fort Thomas. The Wildkats haven't had any issues with the Apaches recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Ethan Hernandez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Isaac Harris was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Karsen Lacey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Baboquivari lost 15-4 to St. David on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.
Jesse Buendia and Kason Garcia did some serious damage despite the final result: Buendia scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Garcia scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Buendia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
Baboquivari now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Duncan, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Baboquivari's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Duncan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517. It's a different story for Baboquivari, though, as they've only averaged .266. Will they be able to contain Duncan's hitters?
Duncan skirted past Baboquivari 12-11 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Duncan repeat their success, or does Baboquivari have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
