Fans got a thrill when Cole Garvin and Eric Swinney connected against East Coweta. The connection was good for 57 yards, the longest such play in AAAA Region 5 this season.
Alexander moved up to 148 from 253 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of besting Carver 49-13.
Alexander's dynamic duo of Baylor Whitfield and Brian Dansereau proved tough for the Panthers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Whitfield threw for 170 yards and 4 touchdowns and Dansereau had 114 yards receiving.
Matt Combs' team's dynamic duo of Whitfield and Dansereau proved to be unstoppable against Carver, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Whitfield put up the best numbers through the air as the Cougars beat Darren Myles' team.
Delvin Weems was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 131 yards on 13 carries as Sandy Creek topped the Panthers. Swinney also contributed to the rushing game with 89 yards on the ground.
Dansereau was the best wideout in AAAA Region 5 this week as the Cougars beat Carver.
6-foot-0 quarterback Garvin of the Patriots is the league leader in passing yards this season with 509. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dansereau. The Alexander star has 23 catches for 247 yards.
Shaw and Hardaway played the closest game in the league this week, with Shaw eventually emerging with a 22-17 victory.
