The Oak Hill Golden Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 67-59 win over Peru. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Jace Tonagel, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 5 assists. Those 30 points set a new season-high mark for him. Rj Shugart was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Peru's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Eldridge, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Eldridge's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Roettger, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Oak Hill has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Oak Hill will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Eastern is on a three-game streak of home wins, Oak Hill a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Peru will take on Fort Wayne Snider at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Fort Wayne Snider focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
