2A Region 1 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Quentin Adams of Southern Choctaw ran for the longest rushing play in 2A Region 1 this season against Linden last week. Adams' team defeated the Patriots as he sprinted for 95 yards on the play and finished with 195 in all.
Choctaw County moved up to 296 from 323 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Keith 39-29.
Southern Choctaw's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Danny Napier threw for 20 yards and Adams had 16 yards receiving. Savon McCoy helped Southern Choctaw's passing attack out by catching one ball for four yards.
Southern Choctaw's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Napier has thrown for 714 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while LaBrandon Young has 15 catches for 338 yards. Adams leads the league in rushing with 1512 yards.
Jeremy Noland's team extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 1 this week by beating Linden, 33-13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Indians.
