Baseball Recap: Providence School Wins Going Away Against Deland

There's no place like home for Providence School, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let the DeLand Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. That looming 6-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stallions yet this season.

Not much got past Ryan Walls, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep DeLand off the board. What's more, Walls gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Providence School got a big performance out of Luke Manderson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Matricardi, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Providence School's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for DeLand, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Providence School and DeLand's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Providence School and Bishop Snyder (who has only given up 3.5 runs per game) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence School's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so DeLand's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Similarly, DeLand will take on Orangewood Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a squad that's only allowed 2.5 runs per game.
