The Newberry Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Fairfield Central Griffins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Newberry never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Columbia last Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 47-8 victory over the Capitals. Given Newberry's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Columbia is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fairfield Central never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 60-0 win over Eau Claire on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fairfield Central.
Fairfield Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Mcmillon led the charge by throwing for 72 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was TyDarion Grier, who gained 56 total yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Newberry to 5-4 and Fairfield Central to 7-2.
Newberry was dealt a bruising 48-0 loss at the hands of Fairfield Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Newberry have more luck at home instead of on the road?
