Ridgefield is 8-2 against the Warriors since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Ridgefield can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They blew past McMahon 75-52. Given Ridgefield's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Senators are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wilton pushed their score all the way to 68 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 76-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Staples. Wilton found out winning isn't easy when you make nine fewer threes than your opponent.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Ryan Luchetta and Sam Clachko. Clachko had a solid game and scored eight points. Meanwhile, Luchetta did his best for the losing side, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Wilton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Ridgefield's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Wilton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Ridgefield strolled past the Warriors in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 69-55. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Wilton's Tommy McKiernan, who scored 34 points.
