The Midtown Knights will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Banneker Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Midtown is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Banneker in Georgia (Midtown is ranked 17th, while Banneker is ranked 257th).
Even though Midtown has not done well against St. Pius X Catholic recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Midtown claimed a resounding 71-37 victory over St. Pius X Catholic on the road. Midtown might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 31 points or more this season.
Midtown's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Hailey Wortmann, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, and Sinclair Richman, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Briaiah Lewis, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Banneker's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Northgate, falling 62-20. Banneker was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-10.
Midtown's victory bumped their season record to 6-0 while St. Pius X Catholic's loss dropped theirs to 0-5.
Midtown was able to grind out a solid victory over Banneker in their previous matchup back in February, winning 48-37. Does Midtown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Banneker turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
