The Greeley West Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell just short of Centaurus by a score of 32-30. Greeley West has struggled against Centaurus recently, as their game on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Greeley West had strong showings from Arriana Birely, who scored 12 points along with four steals, and Ella Lopez, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Birely has scored all season.
Ingrid Lorton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Centaurus, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cameron Kidd, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Greeley West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Centaurus, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Greeley West will take on Mead at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mead is coming into the contest with six straight victories on the road, so Greeley West is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Centaurus, they will challenge Silver Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Centaurus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday.
