The Cambridge Academy Cougars suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Easley HomeSchool by a score of 37-34. It was the first time this season that Cambridge Academy let down their fans at home.
Loss or not, Cambridge Academy got some senior leadership from Jillian Mapes and Indya Southerland. Mapes scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Southerland. scored 11 points along with three steals. Southerland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Izzy Southerland, who scored four points.
Cambridge Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for Easley HomeSchool, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cambridge Academy will take on Newberry Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Easley HomeSchool, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics at 1:00 p.m.
