Basketball Recap: Williston Piles Up the Points Against Wekiva

Williston waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Wekiva Mustangs, posting a 54-24 victory. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season.

Williston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janiyah Span, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Young, who earned ten points.

Williston was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wekiva only posted two assists.

Despite the loss, Wekiva had strong showings from Tiana Washington, who had seven points and five rebounds, and Julissa Miles, who put up four points.

Williston pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Wekiva, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Williston won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Florida Educational Institute at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Williston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season. As for Wekiva, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on DeLand at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (DeLand has six straight victories, Wekiva has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
