Smiths Station scored a shocking upset when it eliminated Auburn, 34-18. At the time, the Tigers were ranked eighth in the state, while the Panthers were 33rd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Smiths Station, who defeated eighth ranked Auburn, 34-18.
Carver's dynamic duo of Mike Mckenny and Landy Capetillo proved to be unstoppable against Jefferson Davis, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mckenny threw for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns and Capetillo had 91 yards receiving. Adrikus Hall helped Carver's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 78 yards.
The Wolverines' dynamic duo of Mckenny and Capetillo proved tough for the Volunteers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Reggie Hall was the best running back in 6A Region 3 this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 196 yards as Opelika beat Jefferson Davis. Teammate Devarion Barnes added to the ground attack by rushing for 45 yards.
He was 10-19 with 3 interceptions.
Mckenny put up the best numbers through the air as Billy Gresham's team defeated Lee Carter's team.
Capetillo was the best wideout in the league this week as the Wolverines bested the Volunteers.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Tim Carter's team's Bradley Northcutt and Kyle Sikes have proven to be a lethal combination. Northcutt has thrown for 415 yards this season, while Sikes has 10 catches for 205 yards. Hall from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 380 yards.
The most important game in 6A Region 3 this week will be the match up between Carver and Opelika. The Wolverines enters the game ranked sixth in the state, while Brian Blackmon's team ranks fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Carver takes on the Bulldogs. The Wolverines have allowed 24 points this season, while Opelika has given up 41. Carver allowed 6 points last week as it defeated Jefferson Davis.
The Bulldogs' Hall recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Central last week.
