The New Hampton School Huskies will face off against the Vermont Academy Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
New Hampton School is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Kimball Union Academy on Wednesday. They fell 7-2 to the Wildcats.
New Hampton School saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Fanale, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Jackson Flanders also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Vermont Academy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rams a 15-0 shutout. The Wildcats' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.
Ryan Peloso was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other pitching news, Will Shlomm looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Vermont Academy let Lucas Sinacola and Milo Tucker run wild. Sinacola got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Tucker went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Tristan Ayojiak was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Vermont Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tilton School only posted a batting average of .188.
Vermont Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for New Hampton School, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.
New Hampton School skirted past Vermont Academy 8-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
