The Benedictine Bengals are taking a road trip to square off against the Midview Middies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benedictine's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Midview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Midview will be up against a hot Benedictine team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Bengals skirted past Avon Lake 4-2. That's two games straight that the Bengals have won by exactly two runs.

Mario Mastrandrea tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Benedictine's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Shepard Charlton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That's the most hits Charlton has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Midview beat Elyria 6-1 on Wednesday. The Middies have beaten the Pioneers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pioneers has come to flipping the script.
Noah Munshower spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Midview is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-10 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Kaiden Vogelpohl and Daniel Melendez did most of the damage at the plate: Vogelpohl went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Melendez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Vogelpohl has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Camden Scott was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Benedictine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Midview, their record now sits at 5-11.
