May River is a perfect 10-0 against Hilton Head Island since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Sharks will look to defend their home field against the Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Last Friday, May River got the win against Bishop England by a conclusive 20-1. The Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Caydon Swofford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, May River got a massive performance out of Addison Roppelt, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Allie Belcher, who went 1-for-2 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.
May River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .889. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hilton Head Island hadn't done well against Bluffton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Seahawks blew past the Bobcats 17-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seahawks.
Like May River, Hilton Head Island also got a great game from a two-way player: Skyla Ward. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. Ward was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sania Pinkney was a standout: she fired off three triples, two runs, and two RBI while going 3-for-5. Kevonna Brockington was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Hilton Head Island's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for May River, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Everything went May River's way against Hilton Head Island when the teams last played back in March, as May River made off with a 20-1 win. Will the Sharks repeat their success, or do the Seahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
