True North Classical Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Ransom Everglades as they made off with an 11-1 win.
Christian Villabona looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Angel Garcia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Alan Rodriguez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westminster Christian came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 10-0 shutout.
Austin Wiegandt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Wiegandt was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.
In other batting news, Gabriel Mejia was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Juan Godoy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Westminster Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer Trinity only managed five hits.
True North Classical Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Westminster Christian, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9-1.
True North Classical Academy couldn't quite get it done against Westminster Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
