The Northwest Christian Crusaders will head out on the road to challenge the Fountain Hills Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northwest Christian entered their tilt with Chino Valley with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Northwest Christian blew past Chino Valley 52-31. Given Northwest Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Chino Valley is ranked 237th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwest Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katelyn Best, who scored ten points along with nine steals and eight assists. That's the first time this season that Best posted eight or more assists. Quinn Gray was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Fountain Hills came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Phoenix Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-28 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Fountain Hills has managed all season.
Northwest Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Fountain Hills, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Northwest Christian might still be hurting after the 49-23 loss they got from Fountain Hills when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Northwest Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
