The Anclote Sharks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 56-18 loss at the hands of Sunlake. Anclote has not had much luck with the Seahawks recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
mackenzie medrano was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds for Sunlake. Alyssa Rivera was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Anclote has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Sunlake, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anclote won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Calvary Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Sharks in Florida (the Warriors are ranked 162nd, while the Sharks are ranked 501st). As for Sunlake, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Clearwater Central Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
