Lafayette is 2-8 against Madison County since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lafayette Hornets will challenge the Madison County Cowboys. Lafayette is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Lafayette will head into Friday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 43) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Chiefland 51-48.

Kiley Beach had an outrageously good game as she went 7 for 12 on her way to 19 points and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Kendrick, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.
Lafayette smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 30 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison County). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Suwannee 85-16. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-7.
Lafayette better focus on containing Jaidyn Wesley and Jahlaya Wilson as the pair were huge in Madison County's win. Wesley went 10 of 22 en route to 29 points along with six boards and six steals, while Wilson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. With that strong performance, Wesley is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Ralsharee Robinson was another key player, putting up six points in addition to eight steals and seven boards.
Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Madison County, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lafayette has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 33.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Madison County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lafayette couldn't quite finish off Madison County when the teams last played back in February of 2022 and fell 56-53. Can Lafayette avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
