The Southwest Roughriders pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Medicine Valley by a score of 60-57. Southwest lost against Medicine Valley in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-50 score last time.
Southwest's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Houston Billeter, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakub Walz,, who scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds.
Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Medicine Valley, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Southwest will head out on the road to face off against Maywood/Hayes Center on Saturday. As for Medicine Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Paxton at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Paxton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Thursday.
