Milford and Lebanon are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Milford's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Lebanon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Milford's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Sunday's struggle, when Centerville hitters got past them. The Eagles lost 10-3 to the Elks on Sunday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since May 13, 2024.
Lanie McCoy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lebanon and Centerville meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Warriors blew past the Elks 7-1. Considering the Warriors have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophia Sheidler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Kennedy Jauch was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ella Tuebner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lebanon's record now sits at 4-1. As for Milford, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Milford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lebanon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Milford beat Lebanon 3-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
