Pottsville is 10-0 against Lehighton since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Last Wednesday, Pottsville strolled past Jim Thorpe with points to spare, taking the game 59-43. Pottsville pushed the score to 55-26 by the end of the third, a deficit Jim Thorpe cut but never quite recovered from.
Pottsville found their leader in underclassman Christian Alvarez, who scored 19 points. Alvarez hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Chase Oswald, who scored nine points.
Even though Lehighton has not done well against Tamaqua recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lehighton came out on top against Tamaqua by a score of 55-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lehighton.
Pottsville has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Lehighton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Everything went Pottsville's way against Lehighton when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Pottsville made off with a 68-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pottsville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
