4A District 2 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Ada extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 2 this week by beating McLoud, 41-14. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Ada was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Redskins. Matt Weber's team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 34 last week.
Douglass's dynamic duo of Patrick McKaufman and Anthony Williams proved tough for Harrah to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McKaufman threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns and Williams had 56 yards receiving. Glenn Banks helped Douglass' passing attack out by catching two balls for 34 yards.
Tyler York made the biggest impact on defense this week as McLoud fell to the Cougars. The 6-foot-4 senior racked up one sack.
Tyler Gibson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 248 yards as Mannford beat the Panthers. Luke May also contributed to the rushing game with 73 yards on the ground.
Eric Cardin's team's Joseph Wood and Zaylon Mahtapene have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wood has thrown for 1281 yards this season, while Mahtapene, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 26 catches for 448 yards. Christopher High from Douglass leads the league in rushing with 1340 yards.
The top two teams in 4A District 2 will face off this week when first place Ada takes on second place Douglass. Last week, Ada topped the Redskins, while Willis Alexander's team bested Harrah.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Trojans take on the Cougars. Douglass has allowed 92 points this season, while Ada has given up 108. The Trojans allowed 0 points last week as they topped Greg Willis' team.
Tecumseh took down Santa Fe South 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
