Basketball Recap: Southwest Legacy Skates Past Southside with Ease

Southwest Legacy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 78-40 victory over the Southside Cardinals. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Southwest Legacy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Savian Martinez out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Those 20 points gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanni Aranda, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Southwest Legacy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive contests.

Southwest Legacy's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Southside, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Southwest Legacy will look to defend their home court on Friday against South San Antonio at 6:30 p.m. South San Antonio knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Southwest Legacy likes a good challenge. As for Southside, they are taking a road trip to face off against McCollum at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Southside is facing McCollum at the right time seeing as McCollum is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
