The Sonora Wildcats lost against the Ripon Christian Knights last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Sonora fell 51-44 to Ripon Christian. While losing is never fun, Sonora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 702nd, while Ripon Christian is ranked 334th).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Edwards, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Curran, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Ripon Christian was led to victory by Jake Vander Veen and Luke Crivello. Vander Veen scored 16 points, while Crivello scored 16 points. Jace Beidleman was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Sonora's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Ripon Christian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
