Canyon (Canyon Country, Calif.) beat
Saugus (Calif.) 41-14 on the strength of a superb game by dual threat quarterback
Cade Apsay, who threw four touchdown passes while running for two more.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Apsay to
Liam Cabrera in the second quarter, the Cowboys led 21-7 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 14.
The Centurions'
Marc Langford played well. The sophomore running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.
Canyon had struggled this season, allowing 39.8 points per game. However, CHS's defense dug in and limited Saugus right around its season average of 11.7 points per game.
Saugus (1-6) will play a Foothill game against Hart next week, while Canyon (5-1) will take on Valencia also in a Foothill game.
