Halifax Academy's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Ridgecroft's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Vikings blew past the Rams 11-1. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.
Payton Odom made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karson Ricks, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Emma Inscoe, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ahoskie Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Gramercy Christian on Friday. The result was nothing new for Ahoskie Christian, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Halifax Academy, Ahoskie Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Lilli Farmer. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Farmer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Casey Piland was a standout: she scored three runs while going 1-for-2. Lauren Dickens was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Ahoskie Christian's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Halifax Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-8-1.
