The Timberline Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Timberline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Timberline is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked 25th at the time (Timberline was ranked second). The Wolves were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over the Patriots on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Delaney Wright made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Ayla McDaniel and Mallorie Casch did most of the damage at the plate: McDaniel went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Casch went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave McDaniel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Logan, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Timberline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain fell victim to Eagle and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 12-0 to the Mustangs. The Grizzlies just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Timberline's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rocky Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Timberline hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Timberline took their win against Rocky Mountain in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
