Woodrow Wilson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bluefield with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Flying Eagles haven't had any issues with the Beavers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Parker Williams and Tyler Wilhite were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Williams pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wilhite struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). At bat, Williams went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one double, while Wilhite scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those RBI marked the first that Williams brought in this season.
In other batting news, Drew Gallaher was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Woodrow Wilson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Midland Trail and Nicholas County, and Nicholas County kept the tradition alive. Midland Trail fell 12-8 to Nicholas County on Wednesday. The Patriots have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Kolton Eades made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Greg Cramer, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Midland Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Woodrow Wilson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
