Montgomery owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. Everything went their way against the Huntsville Hornets as they made off with a 7-0 victory. Considering the Bears have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Brayden Hernandez, who gave up just five hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Huntsville off the board. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Hernandez.

At the plate, Wyatt Clewett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Hiatt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win (which was Montgomery's third in a row) raised their record to 18-10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Huntsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15-1.

Looking ahead, Montgomery will head out on the road to take on Brenham at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cubs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Huntsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
