The Kellogg Wildcats suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Grangeville at home and fell 71-40. Kellogg was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-24.
Kellogg's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macy Jerome, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Stutzke, who scored nine points.
Grangeville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madalyn Green, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Green has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Caryss Barger was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine assists.
Kellogg's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Grangeville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Kellogg will be playing at home against St. Maries at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Maries is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Grangeville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Priest River at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Priest River will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Idaho Rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Grangeville is ranked tenth).
