Make it 12 blowout wins for the Carroll Cougars this season. They took their contest on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 72-32 victory over Eastern. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-22.
Carroll got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alli Harness out in front who scored 21 points along with nine assists and seven steals. Harness hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. Madison Wagner was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Comets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenna Odle, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Appleton, who scored five points.
Eastern struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Carroll pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Eastern, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Carroll will head out on the road to face off against Tri-Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tri-Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Eastern, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Clinton Prairie at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Clinton Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday.
