The Stevensville Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Corvallis Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stevensville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Montana Rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Corvallis is ranked third).
Stevensville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Frenchtown at home and fell 48-20. Stevensville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.
Gunnar Larson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Larson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Meanwhile, Corvallis gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They managed a 17-13 win over Hamilton.
Corvallis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dillen Potter led the charge by picking up 53 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Logan Avery and his 138 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Corvallis' win.
Stevensville's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.75 points per game. Corvallis has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven games, giving them a 6-1 record.
