The Henderson Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Jacksonville Fightin' Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Henderson and nine for Jacksonville.
Last Friday, Henderson was the victim of a tough 41-16 loss at the hands of Palestine.
Although Henderson took the loss, they still got scores from Jordan Smiley and Jabraden King.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville was beaten by Lindale 49-14 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Jacksonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 671st, while Lindale is ranked 199th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jermaine Taylor, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 49 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Radarrius Sirls, who rushed for 105 yards.
Henderson's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for Jacksonville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Henderson came up short against Jacksonville when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 44-35. Thankfully for Henderson, Ryan McCown (who threw for 409 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also caught a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
