The West Lincoln Rebels and the Monroe Redhawks squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the West Lincoln Rebels had to settle for second. West Lincoln took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monroe. While losing is never fun, West Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Monroe is ranked 20th).
West Lincoln's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caden Smith, who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Allen, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
West Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Monroe, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
West Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Monroe will head out on the road to face off against Bunker Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bunker Hill will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
