Scarborough had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Sanford Spartans as they made off with a 13-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Red Storm sure are getting used to it with their 14th in a row dating back to last season.
Scarborough got a great performance from Erik Swenson as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cam Wellman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Fallona, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Scarborough always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sanford only posted an OBP of .250.
Sanford's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
