Walnut Hills will take on Milford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Walnut Hills has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Milford will arrive with three straight victories.
Loveland hit Walnut Hills with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 8-2 to the Tigers.
Walnut Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Scruggs, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. Rhys Wise also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Milford came out on top against Winton Woods on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run first inning. The Eagles blew past the Warriors 18-4. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Milford got a massive performance out of David Kittrell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Kittrell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dan Cafferky, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Milford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Milford pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Walnut Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Walnut Hills has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Walnut Hills' way against Milford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Walnut Hills made off with a 9-2 win. Will Walnut Hills repeat their success, or does Milford has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
